Designing the Future, from the University Theological

FUCI The contribution of the States General of Lodi

The challenge of the States General is to channel the passion for their territory and responsibilities of each citizen to try to design the future we will live together in the coming years. It is a great opportunity, which also FUCI (Italian Catholic University Federation) of Lodi feels to grasp. Our group contains expertise in the process of maturation in the various fields of knowledge, but one thing we are all experts: the students' life, between high school and university.

"Continue with your studies or look for work?" "To what degree to enroll?" Is a time of major decisions which affect the whole life, and how people recently taken these decisions, we know how difficult it is. University information are never enough: you can visit the different universities you attend orientation meetings, is used to test their ability to be disclosed, it asks who you know often that faculty interest.

Among these methods, what is probably more useful but more difficult to achieve is just to talk to someone who has direct and recent experience of the course to which you are interested: the ideal would be to talk with a university student. So, one big help for students in the last year of high school could be the establishment of a place which gives the chance to talk to all university faculties, in order to have the opinions result of an experience is still warm, which go beyond the advertising pro-university that is often seen at the Open Day of the universities.

in this direction is spent FUCI group, which organizes the event for two years "Freshmen will be" to give students of fourth and fifth top of Lodi a chance to talk with university faculty of the best known. But it would be ideal that the Territory to take to heart this need is particularly strong since the premises of universities outside the province and the organization of moments of university orientation is left to the schools, which may not always satisfy all requirements (as an example, in schools of scientific characterization is difficult to find moments of orientation for the humanities, and vice versa).

Why not organize then at the provincial level, or at least for large areas, perhaps through a partnership between schools and local governments, a major event involving all students in their last year of high school, allowing them to enter direct contact with university students of each faculty? A closer look, it comes to investing for the future of Lodi, represented by young students, is designed with a refined understanding and solidarity between different age groups.
